Janis Joplin
By 27, Janis Joplin died of a heroin overdose having been given the title of “Queen of Rock and Roll”
and ranked number 46 in Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. While she only charted five singles and only
had one number one hit, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, and given a Grammy Lifetime
Achievement Award in 2005. Janis Joplin's short life has been the subject of many books and documentaries, and her
iconic image decorates dorm rooms, teenage bedrooms, and probably at one point your boyfriend's man-cave.
